Step 2: Uploading and deleting files

This site uses Google Analytics Cookies for performance monitoring only. By using our website you agree that we can place these cookies on your device. More information can be found here.

Once you have made a connection to Janus, you are ready to upload files. Please note the difference between uploading, the act of copying the flat EAD file from a participant's own computer to Janus, and publishing, which adds the file to the Janus database in a form that may be made available to the public.

  • Using the mouse, drag the EAD file that you wish to load into your folder in the window of the DAV client that you have opened (ie http://dav-janus.lib.cam.ac.uk/[your repository name]). This will transfer the file from your machine to Janus. If you already have a file of the same name as the one you are uploading, a dialog box may appear asking you if you wish to replace the older file.

You can also remove files from Janus using the DAV client.

  • Highlight the file you want to remove.
  • Press "delete" or choose the delete option from the "File" or "Web" menus (depending which DAV client you are using).

Please note that if the file has been published, you will have to make it private to remove it from public display see Step Four: Removing files after publication.
