Content and context

A meeting of the Master and Fellows on 24 June 1742 agreed ' that £200 be taken out of Dr Spencer's Chest and placed out to interest at £5 per annum on a Mortgage of Freehold Lands in Cottenham to Mr Ivat' (Chapter Book, 1709-52, p. 181).

Bargain and sale to Thomas Ivatt of Cottenham, gent., of one acre of land in Church Field and Two Mill Field in exchange for an acre of arable scattered in Cottenham fields. One selion in Church Field, being a broad half acre, abutting on the Cow pasture (SE) and lying next to 2 roods of Timothy Norman's (SW), and a broad half acre in the Two Mill Field abutting (NW) on North Fen and lying all next a broad of the said Thomas Ivatt's (N), which land Saintey purchased from John Barnes of Ely and Thomas Barnes of Bury St Edmunds. Note of delivery of seisin on dorse.
