Counterpart of lease to John Mere, Esquire Bedell, and John Norman, burgess, of a tenement in Newnham with barn and yard and part of the college leys, and 8 acres three roods of land in the west field. The tenement, formerly occupied by Roger Young, bailiff of the college, lies between a tenement of St John's College (S) and 'a certen close somtyme chamberlaynes called the bochers close' (N) and abuts (W) on the said close and (E) on the way leading to Grantchester. The yard, 'called the paschall yard belonging to the late chantrye of great saint Maries' and the barn lie in St Botolph's parish between a certain garden belonging to Pembroke Hall (S) and the common lane leading to the late Black Friars (N), one side of the said yard abuts (W) on a little lane leading towards St Thomas leys, 'and the other hedd of the said Leyes abuttyth upon a garden grownde in parte of the late suppressed monasterie of Denney in the occupieng of John Barret' (E). Endorsed: Memorandum that 'with the parcells within wryten goth also a certen lytle yard or garden grownd somtyme a tenement lyeng in Newnham nye to a like pece of J. Chapman, alderman & nye the grownd & berne somtyme in the occupieng of the churche of S. Benet / And also is included a rode of arable lond lyeng at donshowshill nye to the lond of Saynt Johns.'.
