The firm of Norton, Trist and Watney have reported on the case and think the college claim cannot be substantiated. Points made to the syndicate are listed. He encloses a plan, not present. The syndicate are required to make a report but they think that, before doing so, it is only friendly to make known their views to the college and to give the Master and Fellows an opportunity of making any communication to them on the subject.
It appears to be at this point that the college capitulated.
