The Earl of Holland is prepared to defend the college to the king if it makes elections according to their oaths and statutes.
Lucas writes of conversations on the subject at court, of the imminent case between Mr Cokes and Dr [Thomas] Batchcroft before the Chancellor and the Archbishop of Canterbury, and of those refused mandate degrees at the recent visit of the Chancellor to the university.
