|
John Roach was a Modern Languages Graduate who joined the Local Examinations Syndicate in 1925 as Assistant to the Secretary. He pioneered reform in Schools Examinations and transformed the Certificate of Proficiency in English, expanding the Cambridge EFL Examinations to a world market and forging links with the British Council. In 1945 he left the Syndicate for a post as Assistant Civil Service Commissioner but continued his links with the Syndicate.
