The Rev. George Forrest Browne was a Fellow of St Catherine's College and appointed Chief Secretary of the Cambridge Local Examinations and Lectures Syndicate in 1869 after the death of the Rev. Thomas Markby. He left the Syndicate in 1890 and later became Bishop of Bristol.

These papers relate to the Rev G. F. Browne's Syndicate activities only and are largely correspondence
