Mr Burrell willed that his property should be given to the Patronage Fund, and on his death in 1843 the College received the net sum of £7662. 15s. 0d. This was allowed to accumulate until the Patronage Fund was able to purchase the advowsons of Marnhull (1873), Newent (1874) and Little Shelford (1879).

7 Petition about Burrell's Funds. Petition to alter trusts to enable up to £150 per annum to be spent on performance of divine services and upkeep of the Chapel, addressed to Lord Chancellor as Visitor and also includes the opinion of Counsel. Lord Chancellor decided he had no power.
