Correspondence between Laurence Picken and Christopher Cullen of the Needham Research Institute, about Picken's reviews of 'Science and Civilisation in China, Volumes 1 and 2', and related documents. The documents include two letters from Picken to Cullen offering copies of the reviews and a letter from Joseph Needham to Picken about the Volume 1 review for the 'Manchester Guardian', February 1997; replies from Cullen expressing interest in the documents, February 1997. The papers also include the documents offered by Picken in these letters. These are a cutting of the 'Volume 1' review published in the 'Manchester Guardian', 20 Aug. 1954; letter from Joseph Needham to Picken thanking him for the review, 29 Aug. 1954; cutting of the Volume 2 review published in 'The Manchester Guardian', 16 Nov. 1956.
