Papers of Joseph Needham as a historian of Chinese science, technology and medicine

Title Agrculture 3
Reference SCC2/332
Covering Dates 1943–13 Aug. 1984
Extent and Medium Paper
Content and context

'Science and Civilisation in China, Volume 6, Part 2: Agriculture' was written by Francesca Bray and published in 1984. Bray made extensive use of notes collected by Joseph Needham on the subject. Bray and Needham's notes are therefore mixed together. Originally Bray stored the notes in a filing cabinet under subject headings. These headings are listed in SCC2/330/1. However, many of the files contained remained empty and it was decided to merge the material into several large files, labelled according the the list.

This file is labelled Bd3 - Bd7 (See SCC2/330/1) and most of the documents refer to farm machinery and fertilisation.
