The documents comprise a letter from Joseph Needham to Waley requesting copies of notes and references and originally accompanying a 'Science and Civilisation in China' contents table; Waley's reply stating that he is 'thrilled by your plan'; that his 'notes are mostly obsolete'; suggesting that Joseph Needham include a section on the metal mirror.
