The Stage 1 Ward Block nearing completion. The exterior remains virtually unchanged, but extensive interior alterations have taken place. The Ward Block comprised 2 orthopaedic wards and two neurosurgery wards. Two operating theatres were situated on the top floor (one for each specialities). After the commissioning of Stage II Ward Block in 1973, all four of the Stage 1 wards were designated for use by the Neurosciences and both the theatres for Neurosurgery. |
