Philip Whitwell Wilson (m. 1894) was president of the student's union in 1896 and left Clare in 1897 with a BA. He worked in the Press Gallery in the House of Commons for twelve years immediately after leaving Clare and was an MP for St. Pancras (South) between 1906 - 1910. He also went on to write for the New York Times when he moved to America.
