Letters from J. G. van der Corput to LJM.

St John's Library/Mordell/33 contains:
33.1 A.P.s., in German. Discusses a mathematical problem.
1p.
6 March 1935
33.2 A.L.s., from Amsterdam. Has received LJM's offprints and is pleased that the relations between Holland and Britain 'reestablish themselves'. Notes the shortage of paper, and the conditions during the war, has meant that not many mathematical papers have been published but thinks there may be a stream of papers published now. Has come through the war safe and sound, though he had been imprisoned in February for hiding people from the Germans. Is now lecturing in Brussels. Has been offered a job at Utrecht but would prefer to go to America. Has been appointed President of a Committee for the reorganization of University studies in mathematics and believes that these should be reorganized along British and American lines. Would be very grateful if he could discuss this with LJM and suggests a meeting in England.
2p + envelope.
7 September c. 1945
33.3 A.L.s., from Amsterdam. Is to visit Great Britian as part of a party organised by the British Council. Is hoping to meet LJM and lists the items he would like to discuss with him, especially the use of mathematical machines.
3p.
15 March 1946
33.4 A.L.s., from Amsterdam. Gives news of daughter's engagement. Is looking forward to LJM's visit and asks him to bring some tea and coffee with him as they are scarce in Holland.
2p.
7 March 1947
33.5 A.L.s., from Amsterdam. Thanks LJM for finding a family where his daughter and a friend can stay in England.
2p + envelope.
30 May 1947
