BA3 A.L., s. from George Baker, St John's College to William Pye of Durham. Wonders why half of his letters do not arrive safely, and blames either the post or his 'boy'. Notes that it has been extremely cold, with the river frozen over, and many people have been skating but is pleased that the ice has melted as he was concerned about coal supplies. Gives a description of the preparations for Christmas at the College. Notes a rumour circulating about the Duke of Cumberland breaking his neck.
