Is very pleased to receive such encouragement as acknowledgement of his work is few and far between. Lists the problems faced in carrying out academical work, both those caused by the physical conditions and those caused by the authorities, and mentions some of the students achievements.

W1.Cl-Cu.Cunningham.2 Autograph letter, signed,from Calcutta. Gives thanks for the gift of JL's book 'The Life of Kelvin'. On his previous visit to Britain JAC had requested friends and acquaintances to send scientific papers but, with one or two exceptions, to no avail. Believes the Indian political situation is becoming volatile and cryptically discusses the problems. Is 'strongly tempted to taking up work in the field of human and economic research'.
