Autograph letter signed to Beaton, from Munich. Was starting by car for Spain when she received a wire from Ivan and went to Munich instead. He is engaged on a script for "The Great Escape". Is staying with Wolfgang Reinhandt's wife. Kate arrives in a week. Discusses their plans. Reminisces about her trip to Beaton's village. Hopes they can all meet in September. Asks if he can send on a novel that she left in her room. 2p; paper. |

Autograph letter signed to Beaton, from Mottisfont Abbey, Romsey, Hampshire. It was a lovely return to friendship in Beaton's charming house. Is sorry that Ken does not like the flowers. Perhaps it is because he likes art so much. Liked Beaton's Turkish Princesse very much. Has twisted her ankle. Hopes to see Beaton soon in London. 2p; paper. |

Autograph letter signed to Beaton, from London. Has waited this long to thank Beaton for the weekend as she wanted to wait for some news. Has become a patient at Frances Chichester's doctors "out of masochism". Is on a diet, but "the liver is promised a complete rest and restoration". Feels that "virtue is never its own reward". Ivan is in Hollywood and Kate is "much sad". Friedrich arrives on Friday or Saturday to stay several days. Has bought a new "splashing orange" hat. Discusses the advantages of hats. Would love to see Beaton soon "from under my orange hat". 2p; paper. |

Postcard to Beaton. Likes the "lazyness [sic] of flat country forest & beach, beachcombing, house & mushroom hunting". After Ivan's visit she will meet Friedrich in Rome. Thanks Beaton again for his letter. 1p; paper. |
