Autograph letter signed to Beaton, from Essex. Thanks Beaton for his letter and 'kind promise' of help. His 'unfortunate financial position' came about because he paid off his father's creditors. Harrow was a 'wonderful time'. Writes that at Harrow, he 'acted with unhappy restraint' and that he was 'more than fond' of Beaton. He did not want to jeopardise Beaton's 'obvious brilliant future'. Has been consoled by Beaton's triumphs and his memories. 2p; paper. |

Autograph letter signed to Beaton, from Essex. Expresses hope that Beaton is well. Often reads about Beaton's achievements in the press. Writes that his firm has become a public company and that he has been made redundant. Hopes to get another job soon. His only current source of income is unemployment benefit, which 'suffices for food but not for rent'. Asks if Beaton will give him some 'temporary assistance'. Will understand if Beaton is unable to. Asks if Beaton heard about Gronny Davies who died a few months ago. He broke his thigh and never quite recovered. 2p; paper. |
