Was horrified not to see any flowers in Beaton's room. Explains he had intended to send some but believed Beaton would have lots of flowers already. Tried to get some flowers today but as it is Sunday all the shops are shut. Will send some tomorrow. Reassures Beaton that they will not look like a wedding bouquet but "a parcel of old shoes". His white Cacatoo has arrived "mounted on an enormous chromium stand". Hopes to meet Beaton again soon. Is going to Delhi to "immerse my sins into some holly [sic] waters". Hopes Beaton takes good care of his health. Asks him which name he would suggest for the Cacatoo. |
