Autograph letter signed to Beaton. Stays in the country as much as possible. Wishes she could lose herself in some exhausting work, but can't. Has been staying in the Ritz in Paris as is having her house finished. Has tried to leave Paris, but Harrison insisted that she come back. Not much has changed in New York. Discusses Mrs. Selznick. The government took her passport away when she arrived and she is in despair. Duff and Diana are here. Eddie is in Italy. Has just had a letter from him. Diana V is a darling. Sees some friends but avoids everyone possible. Allie is taking the children to Palm Beach for the winter. 4p; paper. |

Autograph letter signed to Beaton, from New York. Their trunks were flown to Rome in January. They flew over with nothing and after five weeks, they were told that they were burned in a fire. Thinks that they were stolen. The jewels were stolen in Rome on the way back to Paris. Feels so sordid. If Beaton meets a tall, flat-footed man with a strong Milanese accent and his passport is Mona Bismarck, then he is the man the police are looking for. Is sorry Beaton is stuck so far away from his garden. Discusses her travel plans. Is going to get rid of the apartment in Rome. 4p; paper. |

Autograph letter signed to Beaton. Discusses various acquaintances. Emerald came to visit last weekend and is looking much better. Eddie has been up to Fortino to see about the wine making. He now has an apartment in Rome and feels happier than when living in an hotel. Read a letter from Rudolph in Cairo. Helen Astor Hull's opera has been a great success. Has sent Beaton new etchings from Canada. 8p; paper. |
