Typescript letter signed to Beaton, from London. Letter outlining idea for producing a Beaton perfume. Thinks they should prepare a selection of scents for Beaton to choose from. Beaton would choose the bottle or container and the presentation. They would then form a small company to make up the scents and undertake distribution. The scents would be sold under Beaton's name. Discusses details of where the scents should be distributed and how they should be advertised. Expects to reach New York on March 17th. 2p; paper. |

Typescript letter signed to Beaton, from London. Is interested to read what Beaton said about the new Dior scent and the others he examined. Accepts Beaton's opinion when he says the samples they have had fall very short of the mark. Thinks they should not launch a new scent unless Beaton is sure it is just what they want and that it will have a good chance of success. Will write to Lueders and make it clear they want something along the lines of what Beaton has suggested. Discusses details of money, where the scent would be manufactured and distribution. Beaton would advise them on distribution and advertising and would be responsible for presentation. He would also lend his name to sponsor the new scent. Specifies which pictures he would like from Colin's wedding. 1p; paper. |

Typescript letter signed to Beaton, from London. It was good of Beaton to send his Angel Balm plant in a pot. Has been trying to discover its Latin name and wrote to the secretary of the R.H.S. at Wisley. He replied that he was unable to trace any plant known as Angel Balm but that it might be the Lemon Balm or Melissa officinalis. Has sent him a cutting to clear the matter up. 1p; paper. |

Typescript letter to Beaton, from London. Has heard again from the Secretary of the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens at Wisley. He now says the plant is a species of Origanum. Thinks it is Origanum majorana but cannot make a more definite statement in the absence of flowers. Thanks Beaton for the photographs. 1p; paper. |
