Expresses sorrow at the death of Beaton's mother. Is glad that Beaton will soon be going to Africa. They are planning to go to Corsica in early April. Henri-Louis de la Grange has a house there and is looking for a place for them. Most of his trip was spent in Kansas. Was only in New York for five days, but Babe gave a large party, so he had a 'swift glimpse of about a hundred familiar foes'. The only thing that seemed real was Kansas. Is upset by how much he is 'obsessed' by the book. Hates to work on it, but can't stop thinking about it. Goes into a 'sort of trance'. Jack is supposed to have his cast removed on Monday. Discusses Slim Hayward's plans. |
