Sir Shane (John) Randolph Leslie came to King's in 1904. He converted to Catholicism shortly after he went down, and became a champion of Irish rights. He worked in America to bridge the gap between the pro-Irish Americans and the English. He was first cousin to Winston Churchill and was able to negotiate to some extent through him. He wrote both fiction and non-fiction. He became Fourth Baronet Leslie in 1944 and died in 1971. |
