Arthur Ewart 'Hugh' Popham (1889-1970, KC 1908) was part of Rupert Brooke's circle of friends and in 1912 married Brynhild Olivier (1886/7-1935). Upon graduation from King's he was employed in the Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum, where he worked until he retired as Keeper in 1954. He had three children with Brynhild, Hugh Anthony, Anne Olivier and Tristram. Anne married the painter and writer Quentin Bell. In 1926 Popham married Rosalind Baynes (1891/2-1973).
This collection comprises letters received by Hugh and Brynhild Olivier Popham from notable members of the Bloomsbury and Neo-Pagan groups.
