Content and context

Charles Richard Sumner (1790-1874), bishop of Winchester, was younger brother of John Bird Sumner (KC 1798). He went to Eton in 1802 but there were only two places at King's when he graduated so he went instead to Trinity College, Cambridge in 1810.
