Content and context

The 'Syndicate' was formed by J.M. Keynes and his treasury colleague, O.T. Falk in 1920. The idea was to pool their own capital with that of their friends so that they might profit from exchange speculation, but the company failed within a matter of months.

This series is comprised of papers related to the short-lived company.

King's/PP/JMK/SY contains:
1 Correspondence and financial papers. This file includes correspondence with investors and stockbrokers Buckmaster and Moore on currency business transacted on the Syndicate's behalf; weekly financial statements; and an account book compiled by J.M. Keynes of the Syndicate's capital, members' money loaned and repaid, interest paid on loans and valuation of assets, profits and losses, January 1920-June 1922.
