Sir Frederick Evelyn Harmer (1905-1995, KC 1924) came up from Eton to King's where he earned a double First in mathematics and economics. He worked in the Treasury Department's Overseas Finance Division during World War II and contributed materially to the Bretton Woods agreement though he did not attend. He spent most of his career on the Boards of shipping companies.
Photocopy of a typescript diary of a trip Harmer took with J. Maynard Keynes, 27 August to 17 December 1945. Includes details of committee negotiations as well as visits to nearby tourist attractions. Notes from Austin Robinson (undated) and Harmer (1991) establish provenance.
