'A God and his Gifts'. Three slim notebooks containing scored-through pencil drafts of passages destined for 'A God and His Gifts', comprising:. - '1'. Loosely inserted into this volume (and bearing pencil drafts on both sides) are the first page of a typed letter signed on BBC headed paper, 9 Jan. 1962, concerning a dramatisation for radio of 'The Mighty and their Fall' (1961) and a printed invitation from The National Fur Company, the blank verso similarly used. - '2'. Loosely inserted into this volume, with drafts on the blank verso, is a circular roneo typescript letter to Fellows of the Royal Society of Literature from the Secretary, J. M. Patterson, soliciting suggestions for recipients of the C. Lit, Nov. 1963. - '4'. The leaves of this notebook have been numbered 82 to 129 by ICB. Loosely inserted into the volume are a typed letter signed from Bob Swash enquiring about stage adaptation of a novel by ICB, 11 Dec. 1963, with ICB's drafts on both sides; and an undated roneo typescript round robin questionnaire from Civilta delle Macchine of Rome, with ICB's drafts on the verso.
