The Papers of Frances Catherine Partridge

Title Photographs
Reference FCP/7
Covering Dates 1913–2004
Extent and Medium 31 volumes and 2 conservation photograph boxes; paper and photographic print
Content and context

This series contains Frances Partridge's photograph albums as well as those bequeathed to her by Lytton Strachey and Dora Carrington.

The photographs range in size from 3cm x 3.5cm to 21cm x 29cm. However, most are approximately 8cm x 10cm.

Lytton Strachey's photograph albums, Dora Carrington's albums, and the first volume in the series of Frances Partridge's albums have been indexed. Unfortunately, the remainder (FCP/7/2/2-26 and FCP/7/5) await a future grant to be indexed.

Until all albums are indexed, it will be necessary to use Frances Partridge's indexes (FCP/7/1/1-2) to locate the photographs of named individuals. Her reference numbers equate to this catalogue as follows:

LS 1 = FCP/7/3/1

LS 2 = FCP/7/2/10

DC 1 = FCP/7/4/1

DC 2 = FCP/7/4/2

FP 1 = FCP/7/2/1.

Frances Partridge's numbering of her albums is followed as the sub-number of FCP/7/2.

Some images in FCP/7/2-4 have reproductions or enlargements in FCP/7/5.
