Content and context

Charles Simeon (1759-1836) was admitted to King's a scholar from Eton in 1779, and was a Fellow at King's from 1782. He was thrice Dean of the Chapel, was second bursar from 1798-1805, and Vice-Provost from 1790-92.

This collection contains letters written to, by and about CS, and genealogical information collected by other members of his family.

File comprises correspondence with Mrs. [Louise] Simeon about the Simeon genealogy back to 1298, particularly Edward Simeon (including a list of his benefactions) and his portrait in the Town Hall of Reading, and a collection of autograph signatures of mostly 18-19th century figures.
