Content and context

Harley Granville Granville-Barker (1877-1946) was a playwright and theatre director. He was a member of the Fabian Society and a friend of G. Bernard Shaw, who was rumoured to be his father. In 1930 Granville-Barker was appointed to the Clarke lectureship at Trinity College, Cambridge.
