Two autograph albums, cruciform, with gold tooled cover. One belonging to JCG, the other to Mrs Dunlop. The clasps on Mrs Dunlop's are intact, on JCG's they are missing. JCG's book is dated 1831; Mrs Dunlop's is undated. Many of the autographs are from letter-writers that appear in the Gamble Papers. There are the signatures of J J Chalon, Alfred Edward Chalon and C R Leslie - each accompanied by a tiny watercolour by the artist. Dates of the autographs range from 1831 to 1842. |
| Further information |
The signatures in the autograph books were listed and described by Dr Susan Bain in 2003. The list is available as a Word document. |
