This series consists of miscellaneous letters and relics which were preserved by JCG in a wooden box made from a mulberry tree planted by Shakespeare (the authentication is included among the box contents).
Letters include those from artists:

And from authors, scientists etc.:
Charles Babbage (1791-1871), Joanna Baillie (1762-1881), Philip Francis (1740-1818), John Galt (1779-1839), George Grote (1794-1871), John Frederick William Herschel (1792-1871), Washington Irving (1783-1859), Samuel Rogers (1763-1855) and Walter Scott (1771-1832).
As well as miscellaneous writers:
J Abbott, Charles Bell, F Booth, W Bosell, H C Carrick More, G Essex, June Porter, A Thorold Bishop of Rochester, and a bundle from Achille Murat.
The relics include two small autograph albums, pressed flowers and leaves, medals and coins and other intriguing items.
Letters and relics were arranged in the box in three layers, each layer containing bundles or parcels, or in some cases, small boxes of relics. This arrangement has been preserved although the material has been removed from the box to be placed in folders or more suitable containers.
