Nanda Ball (nee Hulton) came up to Girton from Carlisle and County High School for Girls to read Mathematics 1947-50. She obtained her Certificate of Education from Hughes Hall, Cambridge in 1951 and taught at Morpeth Girls' High School until her marriage in 1952. In 1963, after various temporary teaching posts and having a family, she moved into adult education, becoming Deputy Principal of Loughton Evening Institute then Deputy Head of Centres, Forest Adult Education, Loughton.

The papers include detailed accounts kept by Nanda Ball for the period she was at Girton, including vacations. The accounts cover spending on clothes, transport (including bicycle), food, entertainment, books and stationery. In addition there are printed termly invoices from College from 1948 which cover tuition fees, residence charges etc and an extract from a letter from the Ministry of Education re maintenance grants, 1948.

There are four letters from Nanda Ball to the Archivist (October - November 2000) giving contextual details.
