The Society was established as an off-shoot of the Graduate Society in 1968 to assist senior academics from outside Cambridge in finding temporary accommodation and socialising, during short or longer periods of study in the University.
The records relate chiefly to the accommodation service offered by the Society and, to a lesser degree, to social events such as talks and outings.
The records were conveyed, as a permanent transfer, to the University Archives in batches from the Scoeity's premises, 1972-96. The term cards, 2002, 2004-6 catalogud as part of VS/M 30 were presented to the University Archives by E. Leedham-Green on 7 August 2007.
