Comprises manuscript catalogue entries for printed books, written on paper slips, arranged alphabetically by author, pasted onto linen-covered, paper guard sheets and stored inside hard covers.

Retained as an example of practice in the decade before the introduction of the printed author catalogue, known as the General Catalogue, in 1861.
