The Society was founded in 1989. Its Presidents included George Edward Russell and Mark Andrew Wainwright, both of Trinity College. It later merged with the Literary Society (see SOC.XIII).
Account by George Russell of the foundation of the Cambridge University Detective Fiction Society, suggestions for activities, draft constitution, and e-mail correspondence between founders/early members of the Society (all the foregoing are computer print-outs); notices of meetings; unused membership cards. Except for the e-mail correspondence (30 April - 21 June 1989), dates are inferred or conjectural, but are supported by dated correspondence and by e-mail to archivist from M. A. 2003/020 - The records were transferred by Mark Andrew Wainwright, Trinity College, BA 1991, MA 1995, The first accession (2 April 2003) consisted of the newsletters, and the second accession (1 August 2003) comprised the computer print-outs and the membership cards.
