Content and context

The Fitzwilliam Musical Society was founded and held its Concerts in Sidney Sussex College from the year 1858. At its foundation it had similar aims to CUMS but with the significant difference of admitting women as performing members. It amalgamated with CUMS in 1875.

SOC.XV.18.1 Minutes of Society meetings. Also include:- list of members, 1858-62 (at front and back of volume); loose successive editions of Society rules, 1860 and undated; loose reports of the Managing Committee, 1860 and 1862.
