Content and context

Most of the programmes are for the principal series of numbered and unnumbered concerts given by the Society.

The series was apparently begun by Cyril B. Rootham.

The front free end-paper of the volume and some of the programmes bear signatures or annotations by Cyril B. Rootham, and one programme is signed with a musical quotation by Cortot. There is also a typed notice respecting a motor accident involving Irene Scharrer.
