Records of the Cambridge University Chess Club

Each academic year's results are prefaced by a list of names of committee members. The results listed are for a wide variety of matches including those against other universities, other East-Anglian clubs, London clubs or clubs of persons from a particular profession (e.g. insurance, civil service). Results of matches where club players made up parts of teams such as the Combined Universities or Cambridgeshire county teams are also listed. Some ''simultaneous displays'' by eminent chess players, such as R.G. Wade or Vasily Smyslov, are recorded. In these matches the visitor played a large number of concurrent boards against club members. Each match entry gives date, location, each player's score and the final match total. There is sometimes a narrative report of the match and occasional press cuttings are pasted in.
