Content and context

The society existed to cater for undergraduates and others interested in medieval art, history, literature, archaeology and philosophy. It was not a faculty society and was keen to approach medieval studies from an interdisciplinary position. It organised a speaker programme and arranged visits to Cambridge libraries and monuments.

The file largely consists of the correspondence of officers Kim Finer and Christopher Barder with speakers and other officers of the Society. It also contains a number of term programmes.

This item was transferred to the University Archives from the Manuscripts Department on 18 October 2007. It had been deposited by the Medieval Society with the Rare Books Department where had been placed in the classmark Cam Papers. It was transferred to the Manuscripts Department in May 1993 where was given the classmark Ms.Add.8968
