Content and context

This organisation is essentially the governing body of intercollegiate men's football. It arranges and regulates the league as well as six-a-side, "Cuppers", shield and plate knock out competitions. It probably came into existence in the 1870/80s as a competition hosted by the Cambridge University Association Football Club. The number of college teams in the league grew over time, and the competition came to include teams from outside the university. This file includes tables of results, copies of league rules, lists of college captains, programmes for the Cuppers finals, and correspondence re disputed results and forfeitures.

This item was transferred to the University Archives from the Manuscripts Department on 9 October 2007. It had been presented by Cambridge University Association Football League to the Manuscripts Department on 16 September 1987and had been given the classmark Ms.Add.8687
