The opening minutes of volume SOC.50.1 (Easter Term 1932) indicate that this is a new manifestation of the lapsed Russian Society. This was a social group meeting to appreciate Slavonic culture. The society organised viewings of Eastern European films, gave parties and produced occasional plays. It also arranged talks, the speakers at which included the exiled dissident Vladmir Bukovsky, Leo Tolstoy's grandson Sergei, the Czech philosopher Julius Tomin and the Soviet film director Andrei Tarkovsky.

These items was transferred to the University Archives from the Manuscripts Department on 3 October 2007. They had been presented by Cambridge University Slavonic Society to the Manuscripts Department on 12 October 1987and had been given the classmark Ms.Add.8690.
