The Press was established as the University's own printing house in 1696, although the University had been chartered to licence printers since 1534. The Press has been the Queen's Printers since 1989.
The majority of the material in this category is authors' correspondence (Pr.A, B.13, C, E). There are also smaller, but significant, quantities of records of the Press Syndicate, including its minutes and accounts (Pr.V).
The records emanate from both the printing house and the University (that is, in the latter category, the University Printer and the Syndicate). They have been transferred in batches from 1957 onwards.
