58 Notice of vacancy and intimation of election to the Battie Exhibition. After the founder, William Battie's death in 1776, this scholarship was to be awarded by the Vice-Chancellor, the Provost of King's College, 'the King's Professors of Divinity, Law and Physic', and the two Proctors for the time being. The scholarship was to be awarded for skill in Latin and Greek.

Comprise: i) 2 letters from Mrs Sarah Challis to Miss Hale, 8 Apr. 1833 and 23 July 1847: letter of 1847 describes a visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to Cambridge and to the Observatory; ii) 2 photographs of Mrs Sarah Challis and 1 photograph of Professor James Challis, n.d.; iii) funeral card of Mrs Challis, 1870; iv) covering letter transferring material to the University Archives, 1956. James Challis was Plumian Professor of Astronomy, 1836-82 and Director of the Cambridge Observatory, 1836-61.

113 Album of newscuttings, photographs and watercolours, chiefly relating to Arthur Cayley (1821-95), Sadleirian Professor of Mathematics, 1863-95; with, loose, his portrait in oils. The newscuttings are mainly obituaries and assessments of his work and the photographs are of his tombstone, unidentified women and a house and garden. Also included in the album are several newscuttings obituaries of other Cambridge academics.
