Content and context

The board has had the following changes of name: Board for Biological and Geological Studies, 1882-6; Special Board for Biology and Geology, 1886-1926; Faculty Board of Biology 'A', 1926-96. The Faculty of Biology 'A', comprising the departments of Anatomy, Botany, Genetics, Parasitology and Zoology, was established under the new University statutes of 1926. In 1996, by which time it comprised the departments of Genetics, Plant Sciences and Zoology only, it was merged with the Faculty of Biology 'B' to form a unified Faculty.

Min.V.176-7 were transferred to the University Archives by Dr D.W.B. MacDonald, Degree Committee of Biology 'A', on 17 July 1991; Min.V.282-3 on 25 Apr. 1995; Min.V.304, 356 by Mrs J.A. Knight, School of Biological Sciences on 20 July 1997; Min.V.347-60 by Dr J.R. Andrews, Department of Zoology, on 21 Aug. 1997.
