The General Board (of the Faculties) is one of the two central bodies, the other being the Council (of the Senate). It was established in 1882 and is responsible for the University's teaching and research programme, for advising on educational policy and for controlling the resources needed for its implementation. The General Board is responsible for all matters relating to teaching and research, including the appointment of examiners. The Chairman of the Board is the Vice-Chancellor; the Secretary the Secretary General of the Faculties (since 2003 known as the Academic Secretary).
The bulk of this material was transferred from the Registry to the University Archives at the following intervals: Min.III.1-7, A in June 1973; Min.III.C in May and Sept. 1973; Min.III.T in Apr. 1991. Min.III.B 1 was presented by W.B. Harland, ca.1966.
