The General Board (of the Faculties) was established in 1882, and is responsible for the University's teaching and research programme, for advising on educational policy and for controlling the resources needed for its implementation. The General Board is also responsible for all matters relating to teaching and research, including the appointment of examiners. The Needs Committee, Education Committee, and Work and Stipends Committee (which dealt with academical and academic-related personnel matters) all reported to the General Board. The Chairman of the Board was the Vice-Chancellor; the Secretary, the Secretary General of the Faculties. |
