Correspondence and papers regarding A. Crommelin and C. Davidson's expedition to Sobral, Brazil, for the total eclipse of 29 May 1919. The purpose of the expedition was to determine whether light is deflected by gravitation in accordance with Einstein's Theory of Relativity. There are a number of photographs, a paper by Crommelin on the purpose of the expedition, computations, and two manuscript copies of an article by Davidson on the displacement of gelatine photographic films shown by precise measurement. |
