Papers relating to transactions with the Royal Society, including correspondence with its members. There are papers by Airy on the correction of the compass on iron-built ships; the theoretical explanation of an apparent new polarity in light, with a supplement; the laws of the rise and fall of the tide in the River Thames; the laws of individual tides at Southampton and Ipswich; and the papers supplied by James Ivory to the 'Philosophical Transactions'.
